BRAND’S MISSION

Ga Mén is founded on four core values: Fashion, Sustainability, Approachability, and Community. With a vision to raise awareness among people, especially the young generation, about sustainability in fashion, Ga Mén aims to contribute to the efforts of protecting the environment as well as our common home, Earth.

To fulfill this mission, Ga Mén offers a new perspective on recycling old clothes. Beyond the widely known concept of “recycle,” which means to recycle in its original form, Ga Mén introduces another path where the same materials can be creatively transformed into high-quality products with special values, known as “upcycle.”

‘Ga Mén’ originates from the word ‘garment,’ meaning a piece of fabric, but our name carries a more familiar and close-knit feel. We believe that even a small piece of fabric holds significant value. And from that small piece of fabric, great things can be achieved.

BRAND’S STORY

Off-the-shoulder tops, bodycon dresses, and torn pants are things in front of us. Were we immersing ourselves in a high fashion show? Definitely not. Sorting garments donated for the underprivileged was what we were doing. Despite the fact that it’s a charitable event, many people see this as an opportunity to clean out their closets. Thus, they even donated sexy or tattered clothes. Of course this type of clothing will not be sent to the poverty-stricken, but “where would their journey end?” we wondered. Will they end up in a landfill and decompose hundreds of years later, or will they sink to the bottom of the ocean, turning into a trap for innocuous marine creatures? Is there any better way to deal with these “out of nowhere” apparel?
Hmm…
Recycling clothes requires breaking down the materials to their base fibers and making other goods, which is resource-intensive; consuming significant amounts of water, energy, and chemicals; and really expensive so hardly can we pursue this method. “Re” means again, repeating the life cycle of these clothes, but what about giving them a new life cycle instead. In other words, “upcycling” them – the way of transforming them into something meaningful and new. This idea quickly grew into our mission, motivating us to found our initiative, breathing new life into old clothes or giving junk a second funk!

ANNOUNCEMENT ON SEPTEMBER 22:
Through the recent clothing donation campaign, Ga Mén has received tremendous support from the community. Every piece of clothing, from summer t-shirts to small scarves, carried heartfelt sentiments and a wonderful spirit of sharing.
To spread these positive values, we made a charitable trip to Trường Phổ Thông Dân Tộc Bán Trú Tiểu Học Số 2 in Quan Hồ Thẩn Commune, Lào Cai Province, where we gifted these small clothing items to those severely affected by Typhoon Yagi. We were overjoyed to see the happy faces of the children, and Ga Mén wouldn’t have been able to create that joy without your contributions.
In addition to the clean, carefully prepared clothes that were sent to the children, Ga Mén will be using the remaining donations to continue our mission of creating sustainable fashion products. So, stay tuned for our upcoming activities!
Once again, Ga Mén would like to express our sincere thanks to all the individuals and organizations that helped make this campaign a success. To us, the value of these small pieces of fabric always brings about extraordinary things.
